9. Age Restriction Information

Knives are age-restricted products and it is against the law to sell knives to anyone younger than 18 years of age.

In order to be compliant with the UK’s Offensive Weapons Act 2019, we carry out pre-sale age-verification checks for all age-restricted items being sold to individuals in the UK. This includes all the knives and open bladed items on our website. The age-verification check is carried out securely by AgeChecked.com and will be carried out automatically after you enter your billing details in our checkout when purchasing an age-restricted item. If we are unable to verify your age from your billing details, you will be asked to verify you are over 18 years of age based on electoral roll, driving licence, mobile phone or credit card details before you can compete your purchase.

For all shipments containing age-restricted items (e.g. knives), we will use a mandatory adult signature delivery service. Our delivery partner will require a signature from an adult (18+) on delivery before handing over your shipment. Please note that our delivery partner operates a Challenge 25 approach, meaning that if the recipient is lucky enough to look under 25, the driver will request to see a government issued ID before handing over the shipment.

Please note that it is now illegal for retailers to sell knives online in the UK without first verifying the purchaser is over the age of 18. Retailers must also use a delivery service where the recipient's age is verified as over 18.

If, upon delivery, the recipient is unable to provide proof of age, then the delivery will be refused and the shipment returned to the courier depot. Delivery can then be rearranged and up to three attempts can be made before the items are returned to Borough Kitchen. Delivery to a nominated neighbour or safe location isn't available for these items.

If purchasing a gift, we will require the recipient to manually complete the age-verification process before we ship your gift. Alternatively, we can also ship gifts direclty to the purchaser. Delivery to a nominated neighbour or safe location isn't available for these items.
